The Importance of Kindness

We can never talk enough about the importance and quiet power of kindness.

It’s one of those gifts that never runs out, never goes out of season, and never loses its power to lift someone’s day.

Kindness shows up in so many forms, in the way we speak to one another, in the quiet ways we help behind the scenes, in the prayers we offer, and in the simple choice to look for the good even when the days feel a little heavier than usual.

As February approaches, also know as Heart Month, I’ve been thinking about how kindness strengthens a community. It reminds us that we’re not alone. And it often comes from hearts that give without needing to be seen.

As I continue building Keep On At Real Media, I’m learning that reaching others isn’t just about visibility or income, it’s about showing up with kindness and compassion in whatever ways I can. These values shape my work and my days, and they’re reminders I return to often. Heart Month, feels like the perfect time to share that, and to highlight the people who live these values in our communities. This is what inspired From the Heart Spotlight.

It’s a way of shining a little light on the people who give of themselves with no expectation of anything in return, the neighbor who checks in, the friend who prays for others without being asked, the volunteer who shows up early and stays late, the person who chooses encouraging words when they could have chosen silence.

These are the stories that remind us what kindness looks like in real life.

And maybe that’s the message we need today: simple, genuine kindness goes far.

If someone comes to mind who lives with that spirit, I’d be grateful to feature them this February. I’ll put together a short video for their use, and your nomination helps share their story and inspire others.

Because kindness deserves to be seen. And the more we notice it, the more we create it.
